York Day 2

Our second day in york started with breakfast at a pub near the train station. Then we made our way back to the Abbey to see if we could catch a tour. Fortunately we were just in time. We spent the next 2 hours touring the abbey with a very knowledgeable and endearing tour guide.
When we were done with our tour of the Abbey we walked up 300 or so steps to the best view in York... atop the Abbey. The staircases were insanely small and spiraling, so not a great place for a claustrophobe, but the views were worth it and we certainly felt accomplished.
After the abbey we set ourselves back on the streets to find, The Shambles. This old street has been around for hundreds of years and is so old that the building are starting to slope in towards each other.
We stopped for a spot of tea at this really quaint little tea shop. The windows were so fogged up you couldn't see in without opening the door and it was oddly quiet... we literally had to whisper at our table.
After tea, our window shopping from the previous day gave way to real shopping. Please notice the delight on Brad's face. After sunset we got back on a train and headed home. We loved York and found it easy to navigate, peaceful, and quaint... just what you'd expect from the British Countryside!
