Hip Gig

Friday night (10/24/08) we went to see a band at '12 Bar Club.' The lead singer is the History teacher at Brad's school! His band's name is John Devlin and the Revolvers if you want to check out his music click the link. They're pretty good! The 12 Bar Club is one of those hole in the wall places you would see in a movie and think, "Wow thats cool," However, once you're standing there you realize its actually just a tiny dilapitated building that is crowded and smells of stale beer. The place was cooler than we were... we felt like tools in our gap clothes surrounded by some very...very trendy hipsters! However it was a lot of fun to rock out and pretend like we were cooler than we really are.

Crystal Palace Football!

Last weekend we went to a Crystal Palace football game with some friends from work. This is us right before we entered the stadium... Note the excitement on Brad's face!
It was a ton of fun. Our seats were great and they only cost us 5 pounds... thanks to Croydon Council Family Night!
Before and after the game we went to the local pub which turned away customers wearing the opposing team's colors. After the pub we took a train to a friends flat. This is Brad taking a dare... and winning 5 pounds... for climbing up on the luggage rack of the train. Could a wife be more proud?
These are our friends that Sara teaches with at St. Andrews. We ordered pizza and spent the night playing a karaoke game which required you to sing karaoke against an opponent. The microphone recorded your pitch and timing and spit out a score... Brad was better than me but I gave it a go!

Still Waiting...

Hi all, sorry its been so long since our last post. Things have been pretty awful and hectic over here. We are still waiting on Internet in our flat but are told that we will have it by Tuesday... we remain skeptical. Setting things up has been the awful part. For example, Sara cannot deposit her paychecks because she does not have proof of address from the U.S. or proof from the UK (Mind you, we can provide online bank statements, passports, visas, marriage lisence, paycheck stubs, tenancy agreements, etc.). The bank here needs either a drivers lisence or utility bill to show proof of address and unfortunately those are somewhere lost in snailmail land. Brad has an account and gets paid weekly so we are surviving (barely) but unable to have much fun. But there are some bright spots...We have both settled in at work and are enjoying our jobs. We have joined an awesome gym (which is where we sit at this moment thanks to a very comfortable cafe area with couches, televisions... and free Internet!!!).Stay tuned for more when we can sit on our own couch and type... until then, we have some prayer requests: Trivial as it may seem, if you all could pray that the Internet makes its way into our home that would be great as without it we feel pretty disconnected from you guys. Also, pray that we would be able to settle in at a church and begin to make some friends. Finally, pray that Sara would be able to join Brad's account so that we can deposit some checks and start living it up!!! We love you guys and miss you more than we can type!

Oh yeah, HAPPY BIRTHDAY POP... GOD WILLING WE'LL HAVE SOME TEA AND CRUMPETS TOGETHER ON SKYPE TUESDAY NIGHT!
