York Day 1

On New Years Day we took an early train to York. The train took 2 hours and when we arrived we found a fabulous but expensive hotel. We went into their conference center and promptly booked it for less than half the price on a discount hotels website. Well done us! Once we freshened up, our first task was to find food. We found ourselves in our favorite London restaurant Ask. It was located in the old assembly rooms so the architecture and general atmosphere were amazing.
Then we tried to go directly to the minster but we wanted to take a tour and none were available so we ended up exploring the streets of York. This is one of the cute chocolate shops we found along the way.
After exploring the streets, we tried the Abbey again but... still no tour. Instead, we took a cold walk along the walls of the city.
We got back to the hotel relatively early. It was so nice to be in a large, clean space that we stayed there for a while just relaxing. Then we tried to go on a tour of a brewery but couldn't find it so instead we ended up at a pub... enjoying good, cheap food!
